Summer 2025, traffic is growing rapidly and investments in the Port of Oulu are progressing on time.

Summer 2025 has brought positive winds to Oulu. StoraEnso’s mega-class board machine investment has been completed, the mill’s production is in good run, and the Junnikkala by StoraEnso sawmill is increasing its production under the guidance of its new owner. Various projects related to the energy industry have been large-scale and have been reflected in increasing container volumes at the port. Sawmill and metal industries, including the chemical industry, are also growing and developing, and we will estimate significant growth in unit traffic in the near future.

The construction of the port’s new multi-purpose container crane is heading for completion. Once completed, the new Gottwald 125-ton multi-purpose crane will offer new opportunities for handling so-called heavy/oversize cargoes in addition to container operations. In addition, the stern ramp widening required by the jumbo RoRo vessels serving current liner traffic will be completed during the autumn.

Although the newest production plants still have so-called  ramp-up phase ongoing, the growth in traffic volume compared to last year (+30-40%), and the significant increase in ship calls, have enabled new recruitments and equipment purchases to a considerable extent.

WalleniusSol, as a liner shipping company, has significantly increased vessel calls so that all customer relationships can be served in real time during this period. As an addition, container feeder service has also been opened to support RoRo liner service.

Summer Greetings
